Lourdes served on the Siesta Key Association board for nine years (2003-2011) including five years as the president.  When she retired from the board, her legacy was a strong financial balance and a reputation for standing up to bar owners and developers leading to a standing ovation at her last SKA meeting in 2011.

Lourdes served  as president of the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) for three years (2011-2014).  CONA represents 70 neighborhood associations in Sarasota County

During the 2005 hurricane season, Lourdes did not hesitate to help out with evacuations.  She received a Certificate of Appreciation from Sarasota County,

Lourdes is a member of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
